When is Pokemon Legends Arceus set?
Pokemon Legends Arceus is slated for release in late January 2022, serving as a “prequel” to Diamond and Pearl.
Set in a bygone era of the Sinnoh region, the game appears to be based on 19th century Japan.
In a region called Hisui, the game takes place long before the events of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl and its remakes.
According to the developers, the goal of the game is to create Hisui’s first Pokédex.
“To catch wild Pokémon, players can study the behaviors of Pokémon, sneak up to them, and then throw Poké Balls,” the Pokémon Company said.
“Players can also fight wild Pokémon with their friendly Pokémon.”
Unlike previous games, players enter battle by throwing the Poké Ball holding their allied Pokémon near a wild Pokémon.
The revamp is designed to make the game more immersive for players, according to the Pokémon Company.
What other games have Pokemon characters played in?
One of the most popular games in the Pokemon franchise is Pokemon GO, originally released in 2016.
The free mobile game uses GPS to locate and capture Pokémon, which appear just like in the real world.
Another fun game is Pokemon Snap – a first-person photography game, based on a 1999 Nintendo 64 original.
Some of the Pokemon characters also appear in Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros, a series of crossover fighting games featuring characters from various Nintendo universes.
