Buried towards the end of the recent Pokemon Presents presentation was a Pokémon Home confirmation. This has been confirmed for the Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, and there will be “announcements to come with more details”.

All three matches will happen Home somewhere in 2022, which is a pretty big window there! It is important to note that Pokémon Diamond / Pearl will be particularly difficult, as it has to wait all the time allotted for the 2022 deployment, despite the fact that it actually arrives in November.

While I fully understand that there are logistical and fundamental implications to the functioning of this system, it’s a paid service (if you want to get something useful out of it). Do not have it at launch for Pearl / Diamond the fans is a bit of a uneasy moment.

Then there is always the argument for the rhythm. Some people don’t really like to have Home Pokémon early because it dilutes the creature pool, forcing people to bring their max-level characters and all kinds of meta-defining fighters to minimum early on. Dilatory Home so that the Diamond / Pearl meta remake can flourish into its own thing makes sense.

Either way, Game Freak and The Pokemon Company haven’t been the best to roll out Home Pokémon functionality as a whole. Here is hoping by then Captions is that everything is going well.
